The Chronicle is reporting that Leitner has been assigned to handle the grand jury presentation on the newest high publicity case (which will happen this week apparently, full investigation be damned). Now correct me if I am mistaken, but didn't Leitner work for HCSO for a number of years? Didn't he work for Adrian Garcia AKA best buddies with the current sheriff? So if the grand jury refuses to indict imagine the outcry. And if they do indict it will be claimed he overcorrected. Those are some smart people running that office. We sent him packing and he still has no influence while he promotes democrats left and right. He's a buffet conservative, picking and choosing elements that suit his personal agenda over the bigger good but any power he has is strictly in his own mind.

As far as the specialty court for police officers is concerned, I support it just like I support the veteran court. We ask these people to make sacrifices all the time and when we find a bad egg, those with experience will be able to discern those who never took their oath seriously from those unable to deal with the stresses of their position. I understand how those armchair quarterbacks who never played a game think their calls are always superior to the real players but the assumption that such courts will give a free pass is rooted in ignorance. Police officers are treated with kid gloves whenever they're caught committing child sex crimes. Everyone in the system knows it. And the number of officers who are caught is astounding. So astounding that major police publications are attempting to address the problem before it gets any worse and draws more publicity. Nobody ever questions that designation because you will be vilified endlessly if you so much as utter a question yet almost no cases are made for it compared to the amazing number of projected incidences there are supposed to be. Then you have local law enforcement and the media tying all these spa busts, prostitute arrests, and Craigslist stings as being major blows against human trafficking. In most such cases, there is not one element of human trafficking involved in these incidents yet the dog and pony shows are almost constant now because too many people have come to equate it all as one thing.

2) In the cases of child molestation, rape, or other sexual misconduct, the biggest reason any DA's office allows for crazy low pleas is because the evidence is almost always terribly flawed and at best circumstantial. Since there is not a single prosecutor within 500 miles of here that doesn't know that fact, I'm calling out Anonymous 3:10/3:15 as unbelievable, the "one of our own" narrative about as likely as a certain POS being an "energy executive". Having seen what appears to be the same person regularly espouse that BS Facebook page on a variety of local blogs, the person disappearing whenever people start questioning the validity of a personal FB page as a credible cite. I'm acquainted with a great many officers and prosecutors, not a single one looks the other way or condones anyone attacking children, most would prefer finding a sturdy rope and tree to solve the matter if they caught them doing it. Embellishing the frequency of such crimes doesn't validate an individual's belief any more than posting pictures of local hookers proves a big blow against human trafficking so give it a rest.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7566778230970156239.post-66496319763565607862017-05-27T21:12:12.860-05:002017-05-27T21:12:12.860-05:00Hey maybe Clappart can start hanging out in Ellis ...Hey maybe Clappart can start hanging out in Ellis McCullough's office at Intake. Joanne is no different than any of the others who have held the position in any of the other administrations and you all probably know it. Indeed, she's no different than any other SCC in the country in respect to prosecuting law enforcement officers who diddle kids. Get freaking real, these pleas go on in every jurisdiction all across the country. There is even a Facebook page documenting the thousands of cases. When I was a baby prosecutor I was appalled to see it and that was back when Lykos was on the bench and she was signing off on DA for an HPD officer who had raped a three-year-old! Anonymous 6:49 PM, you may not realize it but Ogg had no input on that case at all. Her sex crimes chief put that sweet plea together. You may have heard of her, JoAnne Musick of Musick & Musick? Before she became the SCC she was on the other side representing dozens of police officers who were charged with child sex crimes. Her father, Earl (a former officer himself), is also a defense attorney who represents officers charged with sex crimes as a major part of their business. They're the best, having gotten every officer they represented unbelievably great plea deals. As far as I know zero of these clients were forced to register on the SOR. Ogg may not be aware but police pedophiles have free representation now in the district attorney's office. Of course she's been getting an earful all day from her constituents who are outraged with this sugar plum plea.

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Former-HISD-officer-admits-to-fondling-middle-11170371.php Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7566778230970156239.post-24661019156151239762017-05-25T13:42:09.961-05:002017-05-25T13:42:09.961-05:00Steve "GC" Clappart convincing folks tha...Steve "GC" Clappart convincing folks that when it comes to canine references associated with humans, women are known as dogs and men are known as bitches places him firmly in the Team Temple Top 10.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7566778230970156239.post-14966007479557215452017-05-24T21:26:47.819-05:002017-05-24T21:26:47.819-05:00During the last two years of the Lykos administrat...During the last two years of the Lykos administration the staff openly walked around the office and talked about how much they hated her (except the Lykos insiders and Denise Oncken). We all knew that nobody felt differently. It was kind of unbelievable. It was the total opposite of how the staff used to talk about how much they admired Holmes. Yet Kim has chosen to follow Lykos's path and not JBH's path (of integrity). Elected DA's have a right to chose their own policies, but good managers should be separate and apart from that.
