Merry Christmas to All

Merry Christmas to all my friends out there who are up and about on the Internet today.

I hope that this message finds you all long after you've already had a fantastic Christmas with your families.

In light of the tragedy yesterday involving Bellaire PD Corporal Jimmie Norman and civilian Terry Taylor -- as well as so many other heartbreaking things that have happened in the past month -- please don't fail to appreciate how blessed you are to be sitting down with all of your family.  Whether your religious views run deep or shallow, Christmas time is a time for family.

Hug yours and let them know how much you love them.

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone, and thank you Murray for remembering Officer Jimmie Norman of Bellaire PD who was gunned down on Christmas Eve along with Maaco owner Terry Taylor while trying to stop a POS from fleeing a traffic accident.

I worked with Jimmie Norman for 3 years at the OC unit while he was assigned there as a narcotics officer. A kinder more gentle-man you will never find. It did not surprise me that he was out by himself chasing a bad guy yesterday. He worked like a soldier at the OC unit, and it always amazed me when Jimmie would go undercover and could actually get a dope dealer to sell to him because he was a large man and didn't fit the profile of a crack head or meth monkey. I don't recall when I learned his real name because he was introduced by Sgt. Hudson to me as "Tiny." I remember he came to my baby shower; what a sight we were, fat me surrounded by a bunch of long dirty-haired unshaven undercover narcs, Jimmie among them. He survived and thrived working narcotics all those years, only to be shot to death in broad daylight on his home turf in a parking lot in Bellaire, Texas by a pathetic thug.

Jimme Norman had integrity and loved his family. He was mine and everyone's friend and it is a blow to my heart yesterday to see his face on TV under these circumstances. He and his family have my prayers. God bless you, Tiny.

That reminds me, I should be in the kitchen with them instead of back here. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all.

Glad to see Mike restoring the policy of the DA personally prosecuting those who kill our police officers.

As a Bellaire resident, I was particularly saddened to hear of Officer Norman. I never met or knew him, but I certainly appreciated his service to our community. His untimely death reminds us of just how dangerous even traffic stops can be for officers. He put his life on the line for residents like me, and I will not forget that. Like Murray, I have often paused over these holidays to reflect how grateful we should be for what we have. Please let us know what the funeral arrangements are, Murray, or how we can dontae to his family.

What happened to the annual 12 days of Christmas?

Dear Mr. Newman,

Will we be seeing you at the swearing in ceremony taking the oath? If not, how does it feel to be played by the Andersons and their clan?

We all know Mrs. Anderson used you to control any negative press or decisions made during the last six months. Frankly, I'm concerned they are only marginally better than Patsy.

New admin. Yet still unqualified people in positions of authority.

Anon 9:27,

Seriously. Grow up.

You might see me at the ceremony but it will only be to show my support. Coming back to the Office was never something that would have been an option for me.

It is disappointing to see how many people are grumbling about the Anderson Administration before he even takes office. Did you really think that a former Special Crimes prosecutor and District Judge was running for District Attorney so that he could be YOUR puppet government? Get real.

If you wanted things differently, you should have run.

I have agreed with some of the personnel moves and disagreed with others, but I was never silly enough to have thought Mike Anderson was running to let somebody else make those decisions. If you are so disappointed in what his administration is doing, perhaps you should reevaluate your motives for supporting him rather than reevaluating him.

Very well said, Murray!

Juvenile whiners and complainers will always be there to throw rocks from the peanut gallery. 9:27 just go back to riding your stick horse in your fantasy world.

Take-a-case Anderson, how political of him. He's gotta show how tough he is I guess. Did he pick up Jimmy's badge? Seriously, he just took office. There are a lot of problem that need solutions and he is the leader. Let a prosecutor who's prosecuted recently take the case. Connie comes to mind.

Ditto Murray.
The people that sat back and judged Lykos were better qualified for the job than she was.
We are lucky to have the talent such and Anderson and Hill coming back into the office. This office will shine again in about a year or so after they fix the unqualified decisions made by the Lykos administration.

Murray Newman said...

Anon 2:07,
How is taking a case political? The elected D.A. almost always tries those cases where a police officer has been murdered in the line of duty. Just because Lykos dodged trial for four years doesn't mean there are any ulterior motives in Anderson trying the case.

Sounds like both 9:27 & 2:07 got a lump of coal in their stockings for Christmans. Could they be named Jim and Roger?

I hear there will be an award ceremony tomorrow and possibly the press is invited. I know that the chief investigator wanted to take off and be done with all of this but was told he and Leon needed to be there. I'm sure Chow and a couple of others will be there as well. I suppose she NEEDED to spend just a few more dollars on crap before she left the office.
