The Swearing In Ceremony

By now, there should only be four lucky prosecutors working at intake from five o'clock to midnight.  The rest have officially had their last minutes on the clock under the Lykos Administration.  At exactly midnight, Mike Anderson will be at Intake to be sworn in as the District Attorney of Harris County, Texas.

It has been a long time coming.

The ceremonial swearing in will be tomorrow, January 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the South Texas College of Law, Joe Green Auditorium at 1303 San Jacinto, Houston, Texas 77002, and it will be followed by the swearing in of all the Assistant District Attorneys.

I'm going to try to swing by if I wake up in time.  If I don't I'll be there in spirit.

Congratulations and thank you to Mike Anderson for running and winning the job of elected District Attorney.

To those of you who survived the past four years, you have my respect and my admiration for persevering.

Have a great day tomorrow!

To steal a line from President Ford, our long nightmare is over.

Murray: you are an extremely talented writer/satirist. It would be nice if you could assemble those writings in relation to Lykos over the past four years in a "publication" so that all who have endured her failed administration could have a pleasant souvenir of that time. Perhaps it might be entitled simply "A Reign of Terror - The Lykos Years." In any event thank you for your blog and I wish you and yours a Happy and Prosperous New year.

I googled the site and she may be gone from the site itself but the link still says "Office of District Attorney, Harris County, Texas, Patricia R. Lykos".

@ anon 2:30 PM

It takes a bit for Google's spider to catch up to changes in a page.

Still difficult to believe Palmer will be remaining with the HCDAO.

They really did not want to load it, its something they did not want to do.

Went into CJC and was really happy to see the changed signs. Intake seemed to have fresher air too.

Palmer can't be let go because the county is being sued along with her. County Commissioners must have threatened Mike and his budget if he didn't renew contract. County doesn't want any negative implication in the lawsuit. Sorry Mike but I don't think JBH would've played that game.

Dear All,

Don't you find interesting Mike would make comments to the media, both during the campaign and after swearing it, wanting to bring back experienced seasoned prosecutors to teach, lead and administer justice in the ways of JBH?

Yet his actions by promoting those within the office leaving no positions or pay slots to recruit those who really made the office what it was before Patsy.

Just interesting double talk.

Looks like the new administration may have a lot of double talk. The Indians call it speaking with forked tongue.

The Indians may call it speaking with a forked tongue, but right now it just sounds like speaking with sour grapes to me.

7:41 aka POS:
Mike has done exactly what he said he would do. He brought back Bert and Dick and will soon have Belinda Hill as First Asst. he has also promoted those with significant experience from within the office who will mentor and train newer staff. Baldassano will also be in charge of training and he excels at that. Go back under your rock.

Anon 9:52 AM--

Please explain why Rachel Palmer still has a job.

Man, I was hoping all the sour grapes (from 2008) would fade after the election, and certainly by the time Mike was sworn in.

Lykos is gone. Please move on too.

ANON 1:53 - Please read Anon 7:00 post. It says a WHOLE lot, yet is very brief.

Either this guy is on the inside, or he just accidently made a lot of people at CC squirm with the release fo that info..

RAP has a job beacuse of reasons we are not privy to. Rest assured there is a bigger issue here.

I suspect there are a number of reasons Mike has kept Palmer. One of the main reasons is Mike had never read Garrity. When I saw Mike discuss firing Palmer for taking the 5th, I knew she would be there come January 1 although I think there are plenty of other reasons to get rid of her. MIke has made some freshman mistakes to be sure but I much rather have Mike's freshman mistakes to Lykos' complete mismanagement.

so where is palmer assigned?

Anonymous said...

Who cares where she is assigned. Let it rest, already. She will either do well or she won't. Why give her and her issues the attention they DONT deserve.

Anon 10:55, it seems she's sticking around appellate.

Ok enough of the sour grapes. Let's give Mike a chance to do what he can do to make this a better environment for the employees and a safer county for the citizen.

I believe he is doing just as he needs to do for a reason. We may not know what it is right now but I bet the reason will be good.

My concern was for the horrible atmosphere that the poor people employed there had to endure. No one deserves that kind of hardship, especially when they are trying to do the right thing. A true employer values their employees.

I know Mike will restore goodwill and integrity to this office. Thank you God, my prayers for all of the employees were answered.
