In today's print edition of the Chronicle, Harris County District Attorney's Office 1st Assistant Belinda Hill responded to the paper's tasteless editorial of last Thursday.
You can read Belinda's letter here. It does an excellent job of not only illustrating just how much Mike Anderson accomplished during his tragically short tenure in office.
It also shows the leader that she is and why all of the prosecutors at the Office (as well as the Defense Bar) are hoping that Governor Perry will do the best thing for Harris County and appoint her interim District Attorney.
An insider's view of what is really happening in the Harris County Criminal Courts

Belinda's letter demonstrates what a class act that she is. She credits Mike with all of these improvements and innovations although I have no doubt that many of these are the result of the combined wisdom of Mike and Belinda. Prosecutors and defense attorneys hoping that Governor Perry will do the right thing is not enough. I would suggest that those who support Belinda let the Governor know that there is but one choice - a letter or even an E-mail could help. Spend a stamp. His mailing address is :

And the Houston Chronicle chose to publish her op-ed. Kudos to the editor of the Opinions page for doing so.
Judge Hill certainly tempered her letter. My letter to the editor, which was not published, was a bit more abrasive. The Chronicle is desperately fighting for relevance in the digital age, and the wise editors believe the way to do that is hurl insults on a man even before his funeral.
True to form, the Chron editor posts some readers' slanderous and vicious comments about Mike.
You would think somebody in that building would be able to show some respect by not allowing those kinds of posts on a eulogy for someone as respect as Mike.
What was slanderous in those comments? The author posted facts and even provided links to prove his assertions.
Well you can't "Fool Me"! This "Mainstream" " Voter" knows what a great leader Mike was. Kudos to Belinda, hopefully the next DA.
