Catherine Evans Appointed to 180th District Court Bench

Congratulations to my friend Catherine Evans on her appointment to the 180th District Court Bench to replace Judge Marc Brown.

I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with Catherine since she first started at the Harris County District Attorney's Office.  She has always held an excellent reputation as a hard working, honest, and fair prosecutor.  Over the past several years, she has been the head of the Vehicular Assault Team, investigating auto fatality cases, particularly focusing on offenses involving alcohol.

Governor Perry seems to be on a hot streak with his selections in the Harris County Criminal Justice World, lately, and I know that Catherine is going to be an outstanding judge.

So now she abandons the race for CCCL#10. Anybody else express interest in that bench, D or R?

There are 2 other republican contenders.

Who are the Republican contenders for court 10? And the contenders for the other misdemeanor courts?

One Republican contender is Tonya Rolland. She's a defense attorney, former prosecutor, and would make a fine judge.

I hope Pat Lykos comes back to run for CCCL 10. We could use her on the bench...and ten more like her!

I am confused as to what an ADA does with their current cases, when suddenly announced to fill a judge's seat. Do they dump them all? Or just some? I think it's funny to go throw yourself a funds gathering party, after NOT following through on the things sitting on your desk. Check this out...

Anon @ 9:04. The entire D or R system is a cluster f. Straight ticket voting occasionally results in whack jobs on the bench, whether a D or R. No party is immune to putting up idiots on the ballot.
