Early Vote for Judge Mary Lou Keel

Early voting began yesterday (Monday, May 16) for the May 24th runoff election.

The most important one, by far, is the Republican race for the Court of Criminal Appeals, Place Two, which pits Harris County District Judge of the 232nd District Court, Mary Lou Keel, against Ray Wheless from Dallas.

I've known Judge Keel since I first started at the D.A.'s Office.  I have tried cases in front of her as both a prosecutor and as a defense attorney.  She defines the very idea of the tough but fair judge.  She calls balls and strikes on issues of the law and draws from her decades of legal experience.  She knows the rules of law and procedure off the top of her head and she is Board Certified in Criminal Law.

She would make a tremendous addition to the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Her opponent has run a disappointingly misleading campaign.  He has tried everything in his power to distract from the very obvious fact that Judge Keel is the more qualified candidate for the position.  He has tried to tap into Party Politics rather than examining ability for the job.  He and his surrogates have run an extremely misleading campaign that has tried to tie the actions of a neutral Grand Jury to Judge Keel.

The irony is that anyone with even the slightest understanding of the law would remember that Grand Juries are now selected from a neutral jury pool (as Judge Keel had been doing long before it was mandated) and have no personal ties to the Judge of the court.  Wheless and his cronies have tried to argue otherwise.  While politicians might fall for that type of argument, it is a shame to see that a man seeking the job of Justice of the Court of Criminal Appeals would be so intellectually dishonest.

Please tell your family and friends around the State to remember to vote for Judge Keel in this statewide race.  She had the largest amount of votes back in March, but we all know that the biggest enemy to a qualified candidate is low voter turnout in the runoff.

Make sure you vote too and spread the word.

I have known Mary Lou for some 25 years. She was a star in the appellate division. I recall encouraging her to run for the bench when I learned she was thinking about it. When she decided to run, I made decided to help in any way I could. Using the many contacts in law enforcement, I spoke at several events on her behalf, though I had never gotten involved before. Perhaps, the largest reason was to see the numb nuts that was on that bench get beat. He was so much a loser that I can't even remember his name now. It sounds like that circumstance is repeating itself.
She has done a great job on the district court bench. I tried several cases before her. Her knowledge of the law and fundamental fairness will be a great asset on the court of criminal Appeals.

Jig,

She ran for Azios' bench when he retired.

The guy I'm thinking about was kinda bald with big ears and involved in a scandal. I vaguely remember that may have been a cross dresser or so officers getting warrants signed related.

The name Langford rings a vague bell. Certainly wasn't A.D. Great guy.

Jig,

That was Norman Lanford. Caprice Cosper beat him in the primary in 94

Congratulations to Judge Keel! Also a big win for Paul Simpson! Yahoo! For those of you paying attention, the pay for play slates were utter failures in the run-off. Hotze and Lowry had a 20% success rate with their run-off endorsements. Gary Polland was the biggest loser (seems fitting)! NONE of his endorsed candidates won in the run-off. Now maybe people will stop sucking up to those lowlifes and more importantly stop giving them money

Another added bonus to Keel's win is that it again thwarts Hooper. He repeatedly went after Keel. His other CCA candidate, Brent Webster lost as well. Over in Jenningsworld Hooper is claiming that the winner, Scott Walker was not qualified, at least according to Walker's site. Once again Hooper is either lying or he cannot find the qualifications section on Walkers website. Either way. Hooper is a loser again.

Now, let's be nice to Don. He's been trying to sound more respectable lately and I applaud that. He even used an Oxford comma in his latest comment to himself on his blog. Perhaps we haven't given enough credit to his legal experience. He does have intimate knowledge of Grand Juries and Expunctions, after all.

He is comma crazy. What exactly is "Devon Devon bashing"?

"Newman, and the legal bottom feeders at it again, fun! Now the Brock and Devon Devon bashing will begin through November, smart."

Hooper's still writing? For all his inflated self worth, no one at GOP headquarters has ever cared for him, they even stopped joking about him since it required too much effort to explain who he was. Is he still telling everyone what a big shot energy executive he is? Any time someone would ask him for specifics, he'd change the subject, prompting a few to label him as "all hat, no cattle".

So congratulations to Judge Keel, the highly qualified woman very likely to continue in office. Those RINO's unwilling to support her or DA Anderson this fall will likely find themselves escorted off the property next time they blow in with the wind.

Since Hooper is now "controlling the narrative" someone should tell him that no judicial candidates named "Denise" or "Mike" are on the Republican ballot this time.

Has Don suddenly acquired a command of written English at Big Jolly or is his projectile vomit being edited by someone? People desperate to hear the thoughts of a twit with the intellectual curiosity of cold rattlesnake poop are waiting to hear his response to this post.

Anon. 1:33, You lie.! Don is a genius. He posts on Big Jolly all the time. His insights are brilliant. I hope he runs for office soon!

Nah, I'm just fucking with you. He is an idiot who needs to get a real job. Nobody, with the exception of a few flaky losers cares about what he says.
