Clint Greenwood

Like most of you, I was completely dumbfounded to learn about the murder of Clint Greenwood this morning.

Although he and I were not friends, my heart and my sympathy goes out to his family, friends and co-workers.  His death was an act of extreme cowardice and I pray for swift justice for all of those who had anything to do with causing it.

In better days, I always thought Clint was hysterical and wildly entertaining.  He had a larger-than-life personality and was very loved by very many at the CJC.  He leaves an enduring legacy there and he will be remembered.

Very sad day for us here in Baytown. RIP Chief Greenwood.

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning. Clint and I worked together in the DA's office in the latter 1980s. Among another things, Clint was an accomplished competitive shooter and master gunsmith. He did a great job customizing two pistols for me. Clint will be missed greatly by many people. I also hope the scumbag who did this is apprehended and gets the punishment he richly deserves.

Mr. Crowley, Sir:

What exactly are you suggesting the richly deserved punishment be for the premeditated execution of an on duty uniformed police officer in Harris County?

Absent an issue of the shooter's competency, does Kim Ogg have any legitimate option other than to follow historical precedent as the duly elected DA of Harris County and personally try this as a Death Capital?

I mean WTF! Even Kim Ogg cannot dismiss David Temple for the murder of his wife and unborn baby girl followed by refusing to seek death for the Capital Murder of a police officer in the same month.
Politics aside, we're talking about the 4th largest County in the United States…….the world is watching.

Clint was my supervisor during my very first internship at HCDAO. He was a great boss and always took the time to speak with me about being a prosecutor. I greatly enjoyed the time I was able to spend speaking with him. I know that his friends and family will miss him deeply.

How about the words of Jesus Christ? I'm sure you're a red-blooded Christian, right? Is Jesus precedent enough for you?

I look forward to the day when the death of any citizen is seen as being just as important as someone in uniform. Maybe then there will be fewer deaths of, and by, those in uniform.

Anon 4:01,

According to the New Testament, Romans 13:1-7 addresses the issue of humanity being subject to governing authorities.

I concur that Jesus Christ is the ultimate authority on how we should live our earthly lives and we must believe in Him to attain salvation.

"Vengeance is Mine," sayeth the Lord.................hopefully this shooter will repent and his soul will belong to Jesus Christ.
However, his earthly ass belongs to the great State of Texas and retribution shall be dictated by the Texas Penal Code and the United States Constitution.

Go forth in peace my sister/brother,

How about the words of Ron White? I'm sure you're a yellow blooded comedian, right? Is Ron precedent enough for you?

Why isn't the death of a dentist, priest or carpenter a capital offense? According to the state of Texas, some lives are more important than others.

Lee,

An eye for an eye across the board would be terrific when it comes to murder.

How do you suggest we pay for it?

Sad & Pissed about Clint at same time. I recall and saw a Blog response to a conversation between you and Don Hooper by someone identifying himself as "John Citizen" who certainly seemed to have an axe to grind with Clint. Sounds like a small town, out of county cop, AND seems "out there" too. Do you know who this was if you recall?

Hey Carl,
I never knew for sure but I suspect it was that investigator from the PD office that they've already looked at. If any investigator wants to look at anything that I can help them with, I'm more than happy to assist.
