An Interesting Read
Our friend over at The County Seat published this interesting post on some of the new imported higher ups on the Pat Lykos flow chart. I had no idea who some of these folks were.
Maybe its one of those myths, but my understanding was that an elected DA could not hire or promote a relative. I may be completely wrong about that, though.
Sec. 573.041. PROHIBITION APPLICABLE TO PUBLIC OFFICIAL. A public official may not appoint, confirm the appointment of, or vote for the appointment or confirmation of the appointment of an individual to a position that is to be directly or indirectly compensated from public funds or fees of office if:
(1) the individual is related to the public official within a degree described by Section 573.002; or
(Brother would apply if they are of the same parents)
He doesn't have to be hired on. The DA and county have been scratching each others' backs for years. It's why Rosenthal never went after the sheriff or county judge, and a federal grand jury had to do their dirty work instead. The give and take will continue as always, it just so happens that you people dislike Lykos for doing it but turned a blind eye when Rosenthal did the exact same thing.
That says more about you folks than it ever will about Lykos.
You'll notice I never said Lykos would take up the charge. In fact, I said she'd be business as usual.
You ADA's have a tendency to not listen to what I'm saying. Stop responding to the argument you think I'm making (that Lykos is a good person) and start responding to the argument that I actually am making (SSDD, but you only care now because you dislike Lykos).
