MASH Unit

With all of the county-wide budget cuts going on lately, it was not surprising to see Assistant District Attorney Lauren Bard doubling up on duties and having to play medic today in the 178th when fellow ADA Lauren Byrne managed to injure herself on a file.

I was impressed to see that the D.A.'s Office has a quite impressive First Aid kit at their disposal.

I'm not real sure what the lightstick is for, unless they are anticipating a possible Ecstacy overdose.

But, anyway, Lauren did a good job doctoring up, um, Lauren.

Hopefully Byrne will be able to successfully navigate those dangerous manilla folders in the future.

Lauren Bard is the best!

Agreed. Lauren is awesome! Howver, working here is similar to a MASH unit in many ways:

*Crisis management at it's best.

*Never enough people willing to do the job or supplies to get it done right.

*Egotistical supervisors who think they are God's gift to medicine (or law).

*Alot of good people who do the actual day to day work with little praise and a lot of critisim.

*Very rewarding work for little pay.

*An opportunity to make a difference while remaining below the radar, until the next "wounded" arrive.

and many more that you can add...

Thanks, Murray!

Now that you mention it, Leitner and Radar O'Reilly could be related!!!

Why are prosecutors in Harris County so concerned with "staying under the radar"?
I guess viewing the new HBO series "The Pacific" is forbidden in Harris County ADA households?
Who is really more disgraceful Pat Lykos or those that cower under her rule?

7:52 -

DAs stay because many of us like the work, even if we hate the boss.

Murray -

Are you going to do a post on the layoffs on their way? Everyone at the office finds it so classy that we heard about it through the Chronicle. Great management. They are apparently getting rid of half the trial bureau secretaries. They will now have two courts per secretary.

Anon 7:03,
"DAs stay because many of us like the work, even if we hate the boss."

The question was not: Why do people become ADAs it was why do Harris County ADAs feel compelled to accept "hiding under the radar" as part of their job description?

anon 7:52,
Don't expect an honest answer on point. The anon 7:03 types @ 1201 Franklin hide their spinelessness with the "I love being a prosecutor" defense. Last I checked there are other district attorney offices to meet this "calling" that don't require cowardly behavior.
It's time to judge prosecutors by their behavior not their empty rhetoric.

Now hold up, Guys,
I don't think prosecutors who do stay at the Office should be faulted just because their leader is the Wicked Witch of the West. The job is a good one and there are a lot of people who need the help of good ADAs.
Yes, they could possibly find work at other D.A. Offices, but that doesn't mean they are doing something bad by staying here. Lykos is the one making that place a bad place to work, not the prosecutors.
Quite frankly, I admire the ones that are able to stay and do their jobs effectively, despite the bullshit that comes from Snookems and her pissant inner-circle.

Well not all are bad but if they can say out loud in a court room in front of parents and relatives that they are not going to work with a lawyer because they do not like the defendant but don't even know the defendant I find that to be very vindictive and should never be allowed in any court room from No Chief Prosecutor. I had a lady in Harris County tell me in the elavator that she was an ex- ADA and there would be nothing done cause it would fall on deaf hers. This is the thing that we need to be reporting. This ADA thinks she's God. Help me get something done.
