Campaign Violations

Anybody notice the Election Code violation in this picture?

I'll admit the picture is taken from a little bit too far away, but if you look closely, you can see them.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Downtown area, you are looking at the Harris County Jury Assembly Building, which, obviously, is government-owned property.

If you look closely, in the circular "step paths" in the bottom right and bottom left corners there are campaign signs posted in those circles.  Having campaign literature and campaign signs on government property is illegal.

The candidate who had signs placed there?  Patricia Lykos, of course.

I have heard from multiple sources that Lykos' General Counsel John Barnhill informed our beloved District Attorney of the signs' presence this morning and of the fact that their presence was illegal.  My sources inform me that Lykos' response was (no, I'm not kidding):
"What the f*ck do I care?  I didn't put them there.  Let someone else deal with it."
Well, I have to give Lykos credit for consistency.  I think that was pretty much her stance when told that DIVERT was illegal, too.

I would bet my next paycheck that Hooper's responsible for those. That's a trick he's used in the past. It occupies his time since he nothing else to do but blog and respond to himself under the names newme and Keith.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Emmett, seriously? You're backing this woman?! I really thought you had more class....
there's still time to change your mind and hold a newser...
Or you can just wait until the Texas Rangers get her indicted and then have a newser explaining why you backed this beast of a woman....

This appears to be a consistent problem with her campaign -- I have seen a number of her signs posted in the median along roads across the county and, as it states right on the campaign sign, it is illegal to place campaign signs in such right-of-ways. If your leader tolerates bad behaviors though (like certain employees taking the 5th), guess you can't be surprised if her followers flaunt the law as well.
It does seem pretty disappointing though (although as you note Murray, nothing new for Pat) for someone running for the District Attorney's office. You would think you would want your followers to demonstrate the highest ethical standards -- but wait, this is the same team that counts Don, Rachel, and the wee man among her most ardent supporters, so ethics must not be high on the list of standards at the Lykos campaign headquarters!

By the way, if you want a happy thought for the day -- I have not seen any of Mike's signs illegally placed and I have seen significantly more of Mike's signs in individual yards which really is the better representation of support versus mass posting of signs in public spaces by just a few campaign workers!

If you want integrity, time for a Prosecutor and not a Politican to run the DA's Office -- Vote Anderson!

Pat Lykos character traits:

1) Chain smoker.
2) Takes no personal responsibility.
3) Refuses to enforce the written law.
4) Spends Tax Payer money on lavish gifts for herself.
5) Actions follow Democrat ideology.

Are the above traits really that of a Republican or a Democrat? Your vote counts.

Don't ya figure that outside security cameras captured and recorded somebody doing the deed?? Inquiring minds want ro know!

Democrats are chain smokers?

Huh.

Wayne? Ted? Looks like a good story to me

Anon 5:01--it's comments like yours that are the reason I had to holos my nose to vote in the republican primary. I only did so because I have very qualified friends who need the votes.

Good luck in November....

Scott, for every 500,000 people I view with Obama stickers on their cars, with their hands hanging out the window with a cancer stick, I might view one with a Republican sticker.

Fact.

Thanks for voting Republican, and not voting the party that the Communist Party supports.

Scott, I never stated Democrats are chain smokers, the fact is, 99.999% of chain smokers are Democrat.

See the difference?

Mark W. Stephens said...

I'm not sure anyone really cares what part of your anatomy you hold while voting. But, at least you voted, so thanks for that...

I really wonder where the signs are coming from, because clearly it's working on someone.

My neighbor said his wife got a Lykos yard sign at some businesswomen's meeting and she was proud to have a female DA. :O

It took two Google searches to convince my clueless neighbor that he looked like a moron with that sign in his yard. He was not, it turns out, proud to have a DA that may or may not be under investigation and let her employees take the 5th.

It would be nice to make a big long list for civilians about Patsy, Murray, so I could just click on the line-by-line.

I do see the difference--I'm not as stupid as you two.

Scott C. Pope,

You held your nose to vote Republican because the democrats are so much more sweet smelling? Really? And you base that on the fact that Anon 5:01 posted that about chain smokers? Really? You're a lawyer, right? I sure hope you make better arguments than that in court!!!

Murray Newman said...

Ok, kids, let's stop talking about Scott and his nose-holding while voting.

I love Scott like a brother and quite frankly I'm relieved that he was holding his NOSE while voting rather than something else.

David Jennings said...

LMAO, aren't you the guy that dismissed the complaint about Mike Anderson taking over an entire courtroom to film an advertisement? Now you complain about a single sign that a Lykos supporter placed in the wrong location? Sheesh.

BTW, that complaint has legs and will end up costing the Anderson campaign a small fine. But who cares, right? If you aren't breaking the rules, you aren't playing, is that how it goes?

Three more days of early voting. 7am-7pm through Friday.

Like Scott Pope, I crossed over in this primary and voted for Mike Anderson. I had my reasons for doing so but that in no way means I've got to vote for him in November. Some of you guys with your rank partisanship aren't doing your party or more particularly, your candidate, any favors.

Murray Newman said...

Dave,

Shouldn't you be busy shilling on your own blog?

The point of me posting this was to point out Lykos' hypocrisy at going after Judge Anderson. Are you being obtuse or did you really miss that?

Anonymous said...

Hey David why bother with this blog? Don't tell me you've grown tired of Hooper posting under 12 aliases on your blog and his? You make light of this blog and it's posters yet your blog and your buddy deadbeat Hooper have bogus posters. We don't need you! Anderson will pay no fine.

Mark W. Stephens said...

Now Murray...you know Dave has to come here to post. His blog has no followers...where else can he "be heard." Its a vain attempt to make himself relevant.

Hey David Jennings,

Let me correct myself here. Would you release my comment you did in fact actually CENSOR, because when I first posted the comment, it DID NOT HAVE the top sentence mentioning it was awaiting moderation.

So being how you censored it after it was not first censored, would that not make you a BIG FAT LIAR with your recent comment about you never censor on your blog?

Your honor, the prosecution rests its case.

Thanks,

TopGun

Hey Dave,
The depth of your ignorance about who and what Lykos is never seems to find bottom. The only thing that approaches it is how much of a hypocrite you are. You profess faith but endorse deceit. The Day of Reckoning is coming.

Anonymous said...

And people wonder how it is that Lykos has been under investigation by two grand juries and we are waiting for the Rangers to finish another investigation. We just need a permanent attorney pro tem to work on this administration.

Anonymous said...

I love the "Democrats are [insert stupid shit here]" morons. They make the rest of us look smarter.

Oh yeah, 5:01, I canceled out your vote in the primary Suck it.

Rage

Anonymous said...

Get everyone you know out to vote for Mike Anderson. Otherwise, we have to put up with Don Hooper, Rachel Palmer, Rage, and David Jennings rubbing it in for four years if Lykos wins.

Anonymous said...

Have you gotten your and your friends' voting age kids to the polls yet to vote for Anderson, Guiney, Vinas, Magee, and Patrick? Don't forget those high school seniors and college kids.

Twenty-somethings are often still registered at home, too. It is too late to request a mail ballot, but they can early vote through Friday or vote on Tuesday.

Alex: You’re right.

The bid scandal of this photo is that Harris County Commissioners wasted an entire city block on an F-ing park! Meanwhile every employee and citizen has to walk 3 blocks to park when they have to visit the Criminal and Civil Courthouse. This doesn't even go into the fiasco they had during the storm and subsequent flood that killed the courthouse right after it opened. NOW these rocket scientists at Harris County built an UNDERGROUND Jury Assembly building with a totally useless PARK on top of it.

Thomas Hobbes said...

Too true about the Jury Assembly Building and the park no one ever seems to use, save for the occasional geographically-challenged soul and, of late, political advertisement. Jury Assembly still could have been a reality, but instead in the basement of a reasonably attractive, multilevel, income-producing parking structure.

Dave Jennings said "LMAO..."

That's a whole lot of laughing.

Carl Pittman, Republican candidate for Sheriff, planted his campaign signs all over the courthouse annex property in Clear Lake.

Looks like the GOP candidates don't care about the law either.

At least Lykos is out of office. What's Pittman's excuse?
