Rookie of the Year

As we begin wrapping up 2009, I thought it might be fun for y'all to get to pick the Rookie of the Year from our new elected candidates.

There were eight new District Court Judges and one new District Attorney, so the question for deciding who the Rookie of the Year is for 2009 is who do you think has done the best job in their new position.

Because of the way the Blogger Dashboard runs, I can only put a maximum of five candidates on an opinion poll, so it looks like we're going to go to the playoff system again. The top two vote-getters in each individual poll will be placed in the final poll.

As a side note, although I'm not including him on the poll, I think some major credit needs to be thrown to District Clerk Loren Jackson for the major technological advancements he's made with his Office. He has quietly done some very impressive things and word on the street is that we ain't seen nothing yet from him.

So, that being said, commence to voting!

Bill White for Governor! He is the best candidate.

If the DAs office quits filing residue cases then I vote Lykos.

anon 12:06,
Hell, if Lykos quits filing criminal cases altogether that would be a 2'fer: no more jail over-crowding and no more slimy criminal defense attorneys.

I always hated the residue cases. If these folks want to kill themselves, more power to them. That's not a novel idea though. Still think Lykos is a crappy administrator. Now start writing tickets for the less than an ounce MJ cases. No stand out judges huh.

Jigmeister:

How many of your capital murder defendants had a drug problem? My guess is almost all of them. Residue cases are a good way to get criminals off the street. When an addict is in jail on a residue case, they are not out there burglarizing or robbing you to support their habit. I do like the part about Lykos not filing any crimes and getting rid of all the lawyers.

Anon: Several had drug problems and they all had alcohol problems. But I never tried any of them for alcohol or drug offenses. I tried them for their criminal conduct regardless of their vices. I also tried major dope cases for years and though I have great friends who are vice cops, that war has been lost. You hurt someone, physically or otherwise, as a result of that vice, prosecute the hell of them.

I'll give Lykos credit for this policy, but her grade is still an F.
Sorry for going off topic Murray.

What blind idiot thinks there are no drugs in the harris county jail?

Jigmeister,

I think you may not see any one Judge soaring above the others because they are all doing pretty darn well. I think many thought the CJC would crumble with so many fledglings on the bench but they all seem to be holding their own.

Judge Lykos is a shining star in a pool of inadequate lawyers who can't think outside the box.

Anon 7:34 a.m.,
I'm glad you consider Lykos to be a shining star. Most of us tend to consider her more of a dim bulb. Now, as for her thinking outside the box, I don't know that this is exactly a good character trait when it is only because she doesn't understand what "the box" is.

"Voter",
What principles exactly do you think Lykos exhibits? Incompetence? Blame shifting? Dishonesty?

Just curious.
