The Race for County Court at Law # 1 (Democrat)

Like the Republican side of the ballot for County Court at Law # 1, there are three candidates on the Democratic ballot vying to replace Judge Reagan Helm -- defense attorneys Beverly Melontree, Anthony Limitone, and Louis McWherter.

Unlike the Republican side of it, I don't have a lot of information on these three candidates. Out of the three candidates, I know Beverly the best, and she's a good friend of mine. I've never tried a case against her, but I've seen her handle herself in court and can attest to the fact that she is a very zealous advocate for her clients.

Anthony Limitone is also an attorney that I dealt with sporadically when I was at the District Attorney's Office, but it had been years and years since I dealt with him professionally. My recollections of him are that he was always pleasant and professional in the way that he handled his job.

Although I recognize the name Louis McWherter, I'm having a hard time placing a face with the name, so I don't know anything about him.

I've checked the internet and the Democratic Candidate web page for information and links for more information to the candidates pages, but I couldn't find anything. If anybody else can point me in the right direction on finding the information, I'll be glad to update this post.

Sorry this one doesn't have too much information, guys. If you guys have something to add, let me know.

If they don't want to put invest in their campaigns, why would they invest in the well being of the citizens of Harris County. Vote Republican

APC, you could make me vote straight democrat.

APC, I think you boogered up your logic.

Aggie Chair, thanks for Pat Lykos. That is what the Republican Party has given us and is attempting to do in a few other current judicial races. Do the Republicans care about the well being of the citizens of Harris County? Vote American, vote intelligently, learn the issues and who is running. Vote for the best candidate, Republican or Democrat.

Other than Wilky, you can't lose in this race. Louis McWherter has been in Galveston for a while but used to be in Harris Co all the time

Awesome. People like APC will do more to hurt local republicans than Sarah Palin ever could.

Voting straight anything is pure ignorance.

Wow I can actually agree with Rage on her last post at 10:45.
As for Aggie Pct Chair,I bet she's a chain smoking Jack and Coke guzzling trailer park skank who hangs out in the CJC basement trading smokes with that nasty troll as they take turns berating the office bitch wee man Jimmy.

Very easy formula, Vote American (Republican) or Vote Communist (Democrat)..... Keep the commies off the bench. The silly childish attacks will not change my opinion. Sara Palin did not hurt the Republican party. In my opinion she was a breath of fresh air and a straight shooter. I look forward to watching her on Fox.

I think you make those names up...how funny!

ACP you are why the Republican party is in such disarray.
If you had a website or newsletter supporting candidates it would be the same rag as Lowry's....a list of who not to vote for. A smart candidate would pay you and Lowry to endorse their competition.

APC,
If, hypothetically, the 2012 Harris County DA race is between Republican Pat Lykos and someone who is actually qualified to be DA but is a Democrat....who you going to vote for?

Bottom Ballot Bravado:

Each Political Party has Primary Ballot Referendums that will appear at the bottom of each Party's ballot. Many of these are "points" or "positions" which are basically mere "chest beating" or preaching to the base. One party, however, will have a proposed Referendum that will directly affect ALL people working in the H.C.C.J.C.

Keep in mind though, that even if this proposed referendum passes the Primary Stage, doesn't make the issue "law".

It merely states what 99% of the particular Political Party's candidates orally votes yes to at a general meeting of ALL it's candidates.

Specifically - except for less than 5 nays, the entire Jury Assembly Room full of judicial candidates, voted Yea to the following proposed Referendum:

Q: Should Harris County have a Public Defender's Office instead of the current system?
__________________________________
Stop now and ask yourselves what do you think about this idea. It's not new, but to date no particular political party has - as a resolution - decided it was THIS important to propose to it's candidates - most of which are Judicial candidates. Candidates, I might add - over 90 % of it's criminal candidates readily feed at the tit of the current system.

So, you ask, which of the two political partys wants a Public Defender's Office for Harris County?

Why did this Party's criminal candidates hypocritically vote for a change by saying yes to this Referendum and should intellectually honestly quit "the list" if this is truly how they feel - or don't have the guts to truly stand up for what they believe? Bravo to the few who were honest in their vote and refused to be bullied! Politics can truly make anyone (D or R) to go to their knees. This is exactly why Judicial elections should NOT be Political Party Affiliated.

Answer Hint: - C-Span probably would NOT have been welcome at this local meeting.

Obama Worshipers:

Look at what happened in Mass! The Obama train is being derailed sooner than expected. The Health Care bill is a failure and the Obama earthquake will be felt all the way down to the local elections in Harris County. That loss is catastrophic to all democrats.

Fellow Republicans rejoice and take this opportunity to spread the word and get out the vote. We are a democracy and communism will fall in the USA!

Aggie: Name the two presidents in recent history under which government grew the most, the fastest, and was more intrusive.

(hint, they ain't Democrats)

And by the way, a Mass. Republican is more liberal than a Texas Democrat ever will be. Besides, the House need only conform their bill to the senate's, and it's done.

Welcome to politics 101 APC, I know you're used to holding the door open for voters, but you're about to get schooled on your so-called derailing.

I share your opinion about Beverly.

I know Tony well. He knows BS when he sees it. He's honest and straighforward and he represents his clients well. I dealt with him daily when I was a misdemeanor DA and I found him to be honest and reasonable.

I can't believe people like APC are actually out there. Mind boggling really. Oh well not going to let one roaming idiot override this post....
Like Murray said anyone have anymore info on the democratic candidates for this race??

It's absolutely amazing that anyone would think that Melontree is qualified. This woman is a joke as a trial lawyer. I have seen her in trial and it's an embarassment. To paraphrase one of my old mentors, "She does not know a law." A vote for her could result in another incompetent boob on the bench.

I agree with previous poster, Beverly Melontree is not a good attorney and her best quality seems to be talking trash TO her clients.

I like Louis McWherter!!! He has been practicing since 1976. Lots of legal experience. He served in the Military for our country. He temperate, and he aggressively seeks justice in accordance with the Law. He is zealous, without being a zealot!! This is what we need.

I disagree with the previous posters because I have seen Melontree in court and seen Melontree talk with individuals outside of court. As with any lawyer Melontree may be required to communicate on a level at which the respondent can identify. I have seen Melontree operate in very difficult scenarios and watched her come out on the top. Overall opinion, I think Melontree is very smart and will be an outstanding Criminal court Judge, who will be tough on crime, honest and fair!!!!
