I'm closing the nominees for the Hector Heathcoat Award for Prosecutors at 7 p.m. on Friday, so if you haven't nominated yet, get your votes in.
Remember, the voitng is for nominees at this point, so multiple votes for the same person are unneccessary. One nomination will take a candidate into the bracket system (except for Michael Pham, whom, although his nomination was pretty funny, isn't really a candidate).
On a side note, since I like this voting system thing, I was also thinking about the next vote being for something outside of our little incestuous world.
POSSIBLE TOPICS:
Best Police Officer (other than Walker, Texas Ranger)
Best Expert Witness
Best Judge
Best Court Coordinator (these folks never get the recognition they deserve)
I'm open to suggestion for other categories. I know this is cheesy, but I think it's a nice idea to let folks know that they are appreciated.
On that note, does anyone know if Skip Cornelius ever found out he was the Defense Bar winner? I've been dying to find out his reaction (or lack thereof) to this highly prestigious honor.

Best Judge - Mike Anderson
Best Police Officer - HPD - a certain Sgt. that works nights at the HEC center who reluctantly shall remain nameless because he's so shy and retiring by nature and he'd rather hide his light under a blue basket than bask in the prime time
Best Police Officer - HCSO - Matt Smith who investigates traffic fatalities all night long while the rest of us sleep. Thanks, Matt!
How about best secretary - I vote for Angie Almazan in FCLD - she is awesome.
Txgoodie and Angie Fan, hold those thoughts. We are still nominating prosecutors. Those other categories will come along a bit further down the road.
Best Judge: My suggestion might be a bit odd considering the focus of the blog but the best in recent memory is one of the city Judges, the statuesque St. Germain(?) that participates in the yearly fund raiser.
Best Police Officer: I don't know his name but he works in Precinct 4 out of Hickman's office at night. If you run across him while in need of help, you'll know who he is right away since he's among the most public friendly officers in Harris County.
Best Court Coordinator: There are several to pick from that all earn my respect and gratitude.
