Congratulations are in order to my good friend, Patty Sedita, for getting the Jeri Montgomery case reversed with an order of acquittal by the 14th Court of Appeals. The opinion is a very interesting read.
If you will recall, Ms. Montgomery was the young lady convicted of Criminally Negligent Homicide for being involved in an automobile fatality while talking on her cell phone. She was convicted and sentenced to ten years probation. As a parting shot, name-calling enthusiast and Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos called Ms. Montgomery "selfish and narcissistic".
No word yet on whether or not Lykos will be retracting her name calling and issuing an apology.
Kind of doubt it.
An insider's view of what is really happening in the Harris County Criminal Courts

Expecting that narcissistic bitch to admit she should have shut her mouth is like expecting Donald Trump to speak a sentence without bragging.
Does this mean that there is one less "scalp" for Lykos to count?
I am sure when Lykos finishes with the story, she will claim to have won because an innocent person was released by the courts. In fact, she will probably spin it to claim she was working to prove Montgomery innocent and that she blames those incompetent prosecutors at the DA's office. In fact, she will probably give some time off to the prosecutors who tried the case and announce in the Chronicle the new office policy of disciplining prosecutors who try innocent persons (when discharged by appellate courts). Oh, those quotes, they were misquotes because Lykos is infallible. Oh, my head is now spinning.
Patsy condemning someone for being a selfish narcissist is like:
a. Rage condemning someone for being a whining Harris County employee
b. Jimmy Leitner condemning someone for being Napoleonic
c. Rachael Palmer for condemning a judicial candidate for being unqualified
d. The Houston Chronicle for condemning a publication for lacking journalistic integrity
e. All of the above.....
Great Job, Patti!
F. Roger Bridgewater condeming someone for not showing up to work.
G. Heather Ramsey condeming someone for being a political pawn.
H. Hanna Chow condeming someone for being overpaid and just hiring their friends.
.......
It's flattering that I make virtually every titty baby's list of complaints now. Y'all need a hobby.
Rage
I. Steve Baldassano condeming someone for shirking his responsibility at intake
J. Nick Lykos condeming someone for nepotism
K. Jimmy Leitner condeming someone for back stabbing a buddy
L. Patsy Lykos condeming someone for impersonating a troll.....
Rage,
FYI, playing on your laptop with a county aircard is not a hobby.
Go grab a burger with your geek buddies and pretend you're an astronaut or something.
Walter
The DA that tried the case quit a year ago. But he was still called to the 6th floor this morning and fired.
Rageboy is a Harris County biotch? WOW!!!!! That makes sense when you think about it.
The reversal won't last. PDR will be granted. The case will be affirmed. The opinion has no real reasoning, except to say that it disagrees with the jury. The notion that texting is not negligent simply because it isn't yet against the law is hardly a well-established legal principle.
Watch.
Looks like someone down at the HCDA got the old atomic wedgie from the 14th. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.
M. Leitner condemning someone for double dealing.
N. Lykos condemning someone for hiding from constituents....
Anon 8:31
While you may be correct that the case will eventually be affirmed, there is no information I read in the case that Montgomery was texting at all. She was talking on the phone, hung up, and changed lanes. Did I miss something?
DA's office has been filing cases that really just civil negligence for years.
o. Zach Fertitta condeming someone for name usurption
p. Patsy Lykos condeming someone for getting a government paycheck without ever showing up at work
q. Jimmy Leitner condeming someone for playing on the computer instead of trying cases
r. Roger Bridgewater condeming someone for not following the Golden Rule or the 10 commandments
s. Chuck Rosenthal condeming someone for not doing the right thing
t. Lance Long condeming someone for Uncle Tom behavior......
Was Nick Lykos ever a guest at tbe Bates Motel?
Anon 9:21......OMFingG! The Troll and Nicky are one and the same. I guess we'll have to call Patsy Judge Patrick henceforth.
Who knew?
"DA's office has been filing cases that really just civil negligence for years."

Completely agree.
And Congrats, Patti!!
Wondering what you all have to say the fact that the Texas Supreme Court of Appeals upheld the original conviction on Jeri Dawn Montgomery. Effective January 30, 2013 she began serving her sentence.
