Is not calling a witness who can help show your client was innocent one of them?

Rage,

I was thrilled to see Judge Fine's ruling on Jeremy's case. I had contacted the Public Defender's Office immediately after trial and was extremely excited and impressed at the work that Sarah Wood and Bob Wicoff put into the case. They both did a phenomenal job.

I have to admit to being a big skeptic of the P.D.'s Office when it was first being discussed, but I'm a true convert now. They are doing some amazing things over there.

So, if you have a 9 AM court time, when do you have to get to the courthouse in order to be processes thru that line? 5 AM?!!

I'm sure you were, and like I said I was joking. It was just funny that I saw the story and clicked over, so I had to make the joke.

Right now the PD's office can give some pretty specific attention to individual cases. I hope that as the case loads increase and the hiring dips lower into the stack of resumes, they will be able to keep it up.

And I hope the funding doesn't dry up, either. Some of the tuff on crime crowd holding the purse strings may forget this is a budget saving office, and get upset at folks like Fine. I'm not sure any other judge in town would have made that ruling.
