The District Attorney Debate this Thursday

It seems that whenever I am completely swamped in my actual (as opposed to blogging) life that it suddenly begins raining topics that I want to blog about.

As most of you know, my favorite New York Editor got promoted to Wife over the weekend and I'll be away from the CJC this week.  There are several interesting things going on around the CJC and in the political world (with early voting a mere two weeks away).  I may or may not have time to write about those stories, but I do want to make sure that I bring one to your attention before I go off honeymoonin'.

On Thursday, May 3rd from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., there will be a District Attorney Candidates Forum between Pat Lykos and Mike Anderson, sponsored by my on-again-off-again friend Big Jolly (NOTE:  I'm just kidding.  Although he frustrates me to the point that I want to beat my head into the wall, I like Dave.) and the King Street Patriots.  The event is being held at 7232 Wynnwood Lane, Houston, TX 77008.

The moderators are Paul Bettencourt and Scott Braddock, who Big Jolly swears will "reign these two candidates in and not let them get away with obfuscating and dodging tough questions."  If that is truly the case, Lykos may be in for the longest hour of her life.  Since neither Bettencourt nor Braddock practice criminal law (to my knowledge), I hope there will be a good turnout of prosecutors and defense attorneys who will know the truth from the sound bytes.

Dave has billed it as "60 minutes of Straight Talk" and I hope he is correct about that.

My understanding is that those who arrive before 6:45 are allowed to submit questions for the candidates which makes your turnout very important.  It looks like an outstanding venue to let substance shine over style.

I'm sorry that I won't be able to make it, but I hope you will.  Like I said earlier, Early Voting starts in two weeks.

It is time to go into overdrive on making a difference.

Thanks for getting the word out, Murray. Your readers can go to HarrisCounty.cc to submit questions for the moderators to consider. I wish we had been able to have an attorney on the panel but it didn't work out this time. I do think that we have two good moderators. They are 100% in charge of the questions.

Rein in is what cowboys do to their horses. Reign is what queen Elizabeth does. Rain is that wet stuff that falls from the sky.

If you, as a Mike Anderson supporter, attend just one campaign event, let it be this one. Big Jolly talks big talk about Mike not having supporters, rather just people who hate Lykos. So, get there early, get a sticker or a t-shirt, and show BJ he's wrong. Mike's the right guy for the job--the only one running who's qualified for the job--and you need to make sure everyone you know (and some complete strangers) knows it!
Thank you.

I'd vote for Lloyd Oliver before I'd vote for Pat Lykos.

I assume Lykos will not be speaking if it is truly 60 minutes of straight talk.

Sorry Bud, talking heads. More important is who will be on your and Todds show at 8pm, or is it a rerun. If so, enroute to AndersonFair.

We're coming, but it wont be for Mike Anderson.

GO JUDGE LYOS

Anon11:31, is that you Bill Kneer?

Dang, I sure could use an editor. But, if I have to get caught using the wrong word, at least it was by a hot redhead with a weird dog. ;-)

Anon 4:43, if you do attend, be sure and say hi!

Don't forget to submit questions: HarrisCounty.cc.

Mr. Jennings should ensure Lykos addresses the following:

http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=8642715

Lest anyone forget Lykos public pronouncement several months ago: "District Attorney Pat Lykos denies any wrongdoing in all of this and says the contract switch from Lone Star College to Texas Department of Public Safety was the best for the county"

At her press conference, Lykos proudly proclaimed: "I want the Texas Department of Public Safety to supervise the technicians so that we can be assured that everything is done according to protocol."

This bit of duplicity will cost the citizens of Harris County a pretty penny. Abject ineptitude or typical Patsy retaliation???

David. All is forgiven!

Chip, Chip, Chip, what am I going to do with you? Dude, I set up a website specifically to submit questions to the moderators and you post your question here, addressed to me.

I'm not one of the moderators, I'm just paying for the dang event (and it ain't cheap). Please, click on HarrisCounty.cc and submit your question there. They might use it, they might not, I have zero input on the questions.

Please? The moderators really do want good questions. I'm not sure yours qualifies but maybe they think it does. I actually liked the sex trafficking question over there.

Too bad you couldn't get a film crew in there to catch this and then air it tonight on Reasonable Doubt, or could you?

Anon 2:24 p.m.,

I don't know about airing it on Reasonable Doubt, but if Dave has a video of the debate and allows me to post it on the blog, I'd be glad to.

Dave?

Prediction- Anderson will school Lykos in the debate, and tonight we will get bombarded with Hoop style reviews on the domination of Anderson by the troll...I can't wait till the 28th, Anderson. Fertitta, or Oliver....anybody but Liekos

Mike dominated tonight's debate over Lykos. His answers reflected the fact he has actually done the job of prosecutor and knows public safety and integrity are the first priorities and not social programs.

Anyone record this debate for replay online??
