There is breaking news coming out of the Harris County District Attorney's Office as former prosecutor Bill Hawkins is being sworn in to replace Jim Leitner as First Assistant.
I am told that he is being brought in to help ease the transition from the outgoing Lykos Administration to whoever wins the District Attorney's race in November.
It is a smart move. Bill knows the ins and outs of the Office and is a good leader.
I would write more on this, but I'm late for court!
An insider's view of what is really happening in the Harris County Criminal Courts

Welp, her we go, back to the Rosenthal era.

I'm surprised Pat wants to "ease" anything -- her entire tenure there has been one big, fat, continuous jolt! Even her spending spree has been rumored to provide a jolt to the incoming DA. This is shocking and almost appears to be based on the actions of someone who is I dare say, reasonable minded!
Bill is also a very talented bassist. Perhaps he can lay down a few riffs at the office meetings to relieve some tension.
My first thoughts were negative about the choice. But given the alternatives, and with a hope that Bill consults with Mike on things like personnel and policy, then this could be a good thing. It might also mean that Lykos is stepping out of the day to day administration of the office. That would be a great thing.
Hawk's first move should be Mia back to the trial bureau. She was moved for punishment and not for the betterment of the office. What a joke!
Hawk's first move should be to shake hands with everyone in the office. Unlike the muscle man before him.
I'm glad Bill took the job. There is no doubt that Bill will do the right thing and is not averse to speaking his mind, which is why he was not working at the office when the position became open. Bill will look out for the rank and file.
Will Bill be able to send all DA employees an email with a video attached showing how much he can bench press?
Have you heard any additional info about how this went down?
Murray, will you post the Jim video? I need to see his technique
Leitner's video says volumes about him. A lot more brawn than brain...

I see the Commissioners Court Agenda today contained a request from Pat Lykos to give $1.9 million to the ME's Forensic Science Lab to purchase unneeded equipment.
It's obvious Lykos is determined to leave the incoming DA with an empty bank account. The Agenda also sought permission to shred documents. I'm sure there's no connection between Lykos recently securing a nice job at the ME's Lab for her Administrative Asst.
Add all this to the fact that Lykos has been steadily hiring some unqualified folks and promoting current employees into positions that may change in two months. Lykos wouldn't be a sore looser would she?
To top it off, all those eunuchs on Commissioners Court are letting her do this. Why even put it on the Agenda?
Pat Lykos is just doing what she promised the voters that she would do. Other lame ducks would do nothing.
Other lame ducks would do nothing.
Really? Murray was fired twice by one.
Couldn't resist. I'll send you that beer now.

FYI, Bill Windsor and the group from Lawless America will be at the courthouse Thursday morning with their crime scene banner in front of the Harris County courthouses at 10 a.m. on Caroline. Media is expected to attend, he is currently in the Houston area filming for his movie.
Well it didn't take long for Leitner to officially become a defense lawyer again. Randy Rolle appointed him to a vase this week...
Why would a vase need a lawyer?
Maybe the vase is suspected of killing someone by hitting them over the head.
The vase was suspected if killing a dog in the closet.
Wait, I thought the vase was code for the dog in the closet. Then again, DeGuerin wears a zarape and the fat man walks alone.
He made a typographical error. He meant case. I want to hire you geniouses to handle my important business.
Anon 9:39,
And you think we geniuses didn't recognize that?
Your sarcasm meter must be broken.
I have nothing to declare except my geniOus. In vase anyone is asking...
How did the POS get back on the indigent appointment list so quick? I know people who tried for years. Once they get on, they still don't get appointed to cases.
