Veterans' Court on 60 Minutes

Congratulations to Judge Marc Carter and the Veterans' Court who were profiled last Sunday on CBS' 60 Minutes.  I completely meant to post about it in advance, but got distracted by activities with my kiddo.

Luckily, you can still catch it online by clicking here.

Judge Carter and Pat McCann and all of those involved in the Veterans' Court continue to make Harris County proud.

I watched the segment about Judge Carter on 60 Minutes tonight with tears in my eyes. I am a 68 year old Vietnam veteran who came home in 1969 after 3 tours and watched many of my friends collapse into the criminal justice system, resulting in lives ruined. Sadly, back then, there was no one like Judge Carter who saw what the real cause of the problem was and was willing to help. My best friend spent several years incarcerated before the demons won and he took his own life. PTSD is real. I can testify that, even after 43 years, the nightmares occasionally return.

I am so proud of what Judge Carter has done to help our brothers.

May God reward him with a long, healthy, happy life.
